TAMPA, FL – EventFest, Inc. and Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla are lovin’ the opportunity to announce McDonald’s® as title sponsor of the 2018 Children’s Gasparilla Extravaganza. This is McDonald’s® 8th consecutive year as title sponsor of the Children’s Gasparilla Extravaganza, the alcohol-free kick-off event to Tampa’s historic Gasparilla celebration.

“The McDonald’s® Children’s Gasparilla Extravaganza has become one of the nation’s premier family events, with visitors traveling from all over the country to join us annually for Tampa’s historic “piratical” fun” said Darrell Stefany, President of EventFest, Inc. “Tampa has enjoyed Gasparilla for generations, and with the support of our sponsors, and the support of over 10,000 parade participants, this free, Community event tradition continues for our next generation to enjoy.”

The Children’s Gasparilla Parade welcomes Paul Dellegatto as our Grand Marshal for 2018! Dellegatto is the Chief Meteorologist for FOX 13 and is the longest tenured Chief Meteorologist in Tampa Bay television. He’s a weather pioneer; being the first meteorologist in the country to show the various spaghetti models that illustrate the complexity of tracking tropical systems. “Paul was so important to all of us this year when Hurricane Irma threatened. We are proud and honored that he is this year’s Grand Marshal.”, claimed John Hoffman, Vice President of News at FOX 13.

We are also proud to announce that Delonda Walker, General Manager from McDonald’s, whose tip-off was crucial in helping local authorities detain the suspect in the recent man-hunt for the killer of four Seminole Heights residents, has been named as the Community Hero for our 2018 Children’s Gasparilla Parade. “We are extremely proud that Delonda is being recognized for her role as a Community Hero in this year’s parade,” said J.C. Prado, McDonald’s owner/operator. “Her genuine and friendly personality, paired with her work ethic has always made her a star team member, but her sense to do what is right for her community is what makes her so deserving of this honor.”

The 2018 McDonald’s® Children’s Gasparilla Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The alcohol-free McDonald’s® Children’s Gasparilla Extravaganza focuses on family friendly activities along Bayshore Boulevard including the Gasparilla Preschooler’s Stroll, SOCOM Day Jump, Children’s Gasparilla Parade, SOCOM Night Jump, and the Gasparilla “Piratechnic” Extravaganza.
